Value add- Cross Functional way
Everyone becomes an Asset .
I was part of my new product roll out and i was interacting with engineering and supplier OEM .After 3 months the platform was ready .
One fine morning, got a call from HQ and the caller introduced as a product manager and briefed me about his role .Wanted all support for me for the soft launch and he will send a detailed report about my tasks and the expected time lines.
The mail came alongwith launch plan alongwith action plan,time against owners of each activity .There were lot of stakeholdeds and one was mine.
Next day i called him,hi thanks for the mail,to be very honest i could not understand the interlock .can you please elaborate .
He said, down the line as part of service roll out you ops ,Engg others are billing and collections Team.
I said fine ,insisted him to give a complete view.
1.Market requirements .
Exhaustive work carried out to study and translate in to a product .This was reviewed by top management for its business Viability as discussed using the business plan .
2.Product Requirements .
How this product will be positioned in the market and what are the various factors that governs its success.End to End run through of branding,offerings,features,pricing model ,dealership engagement,internal stakeholders.
3.Service Requirements
Engg ,vendor selection,operations,Billing,Revenue
Assurance,It support .
Further added
Its like a football team and competitors are in the opposite side and our product has to cross goal post to reach your markets .
We have to attack with a plan keeping all the above and all the other players need to co irdinate otherwise any weak links can allow the competion to take over .
Your operations make a very crucial part as customers going to taste the dish finally coming out of your kitchen .
For external world ,jt should be
easy to use and practically solving his requirements , addressing his budget , always available on ,anytime ,everytime .

This helped to understand the whole value chain and gear up for the launch.
This may be the 10 yr back story .
Today one or two people especially startup ,enterprenaur and co founder take care of everything but the fundementals are the same .
